Autonomous IT operations requires 100 percent visibility of hybrid IT environments. With that in mind, OpsRamp, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company, today announced a new network observability solution to help enterprise IT organizations, global systems integrators (GSIs) and managed service providers (MSPs) better manage the mission-critical network infrastructure that connects and powers their hybrid cloud systems.

With the introduction of full-stack network observability, OpsRamp has closed the visibility gap on network environments from the application to the edge. This includes support for observability of network flows, traces, logs, events and metrics within a unified platform for application and infrastructure observability. OpsRamp network observability supports full visibility of software-defined and virtual networks, storage area networks and WiFi, LAN and WAN infrastructure. The new offering includes a suite of network performance management, network configuration management and network topology management tools.

OpsRamp’s network observability solution goes beyond traditional network performance monitoring to empower IT teams with the visibility, insights, and control they need to ensure the reliability, performance, and security of their multi-vendor network infrastructure in today’s dynamic and complex IT environments. Networking hardware supported includes Arista, Cisco, Juniper and more.

In a recent survey commissioned by OpsRamp, 67% of respondents cited network performance management (NPM) as the solution they were most likely to replace or had already replaced with observability tools, far outpacing any other legacy management software in their environments. Traditional NPM tools are more reactive than proactive, can cause alert fatigue and provide little insight into the end user experience. The OpsRamp network observability solution provides a more holistic view of network performance, collecting and analyzing metrics, events, logs, flows, and traces to help IT teams get ahead of network performance issues before their end users and customers are impacted.

As with other OpsRamp solutions, OpsRamp network observability follows the observability pipeline from discovery to resolution across all domains--compute, network and storage.

Highlights of the OpsRamp network observability solution include:

  • Network Observability of physical and virtual network fabric from monitoring of network services to network events, bandwidth utilization, device capacity monitoring and performance metrics (using SNMP, CLI and API) correlated with logs monitoring across multi-vendor networks.
  • Synthetic Monitoring of critical network services like DNS or HTTP performance while providing non-intrusive visibility into top talkers—the hosts or endpoints consuming the most network bandwidth—and who they are talking to; plus applications, workload and host flows, and traffic volumes. This enables visibility to critical events like DOS/DDOS attacks using NetFlow, IPFIX, sFlow, and jFlow.
  • Network Topology Mapping (NTM) including heterogeneous network, fabric, device, service, and topology discovery for on-premises unified communications, LANs, Wi-Fi controllers, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Network Configuration Management (NCM) providing discovery and tracking of network assets, policy-based simple configuration compliance, and remediation with a governance model.
  • Network Manager of Managers (MoM) providing heterogeneous event and alert collection across multi-vendor management consoles, with aggregation and noise reduction. This includes the ability to automate remediation and integrate this capability into existing ITSM processes, allowing OpsRamp to provide immediate value in any network management scenario.
  • Full Multi-Vendor Capabilities: OpsRamp's strength lies in its multi-vendor and holistic approach to edge-to-cloud observability and management across hybrid networks.  With out-of-the-box templates for Arista, Broadcom, Cisco, Dell EMC, F5 Networks, HPE, Juniper Networks, Palo Alto Networks, SonicWall, WatchGuard, Quanta and public cloud vendors like AWS, Azure and Google, we enable multi-vendor network observability.
